Nominations for the Inspired Leadership Award 2017 are open!

The Inspired Leadership Award is now open for nominations. The ILA recognises up-and-coming leaders who are reinventing growth: people who have demonstrated real impact in furthering new business models that work with rather than against nature; benefit the many rather than a small elite; and deliver value over the long term as well as the short.

Each year a cohort of ILA nominees are invited to join The Performance Theatre – an annual meeting bringing together a select group of CEOs and C-level executives with the world’s most visionary thinkers, influencers and doers from across different sectors, disciplines, and geographies. The guiding mission of The Performance Theatre is to reinvent growth.

Short-listed nominees have an invaluable opportunity to access advice, help and mentoring from within this unique community of global leaders. A single award is given to the person that has most exemplified the leadership needed to reinvent growth.

Last year’s award went to Arunachalam Muruganantham (Muruga), social entrepreneur and founder of Jayaashree Industries. Muruga invented a low-cost machine for producing sanitary towels, coupled with a grass roots distribution model that is having transformational impact on menstrual health for women – not just in his home country India, but around the world.

The Inspired Leadership Award is an initiative of The Performance Theatre. It provides a safe, 36-hour space for leaders to learn, explore, reflect, and question accepted wisdom with the aim of inspiring the leadership to reinvent growth.

Candidates for the Inspired Leadership Award are nominated through an open submission process. We look for nominations of individuals who are:

  • Purpose-driven – striving to create value for both their organisations and society at large
  • Bold – challenging the status quo and anticipating and driving change, rather than waiting for it
  • Creating impact – with the potential to achieve positive change on a global scale.

Jeremy Hillman, director of corporate communications at the World Bank and chairman of the Inspired Leadership Award Committee, said: “The Inspired Leadership Award offers a unique opportunity for the leaders of tomorrow to connect with the leaders of today. We want to identify people with a vision and the capacity to create a better future for all of us, and support them in achieving their goals”.

The Performance Theatre Chairman, Rick Haythornthwaite, said: “The Performance Theatre aims to inspire the leadership to reinvent growth. We do that by bringing a diverse group of global leaders to learn from each other in an atmosphere of support, openness and respect. The Inspired Leadership Award enriches The Performance Theatre community by bringing in fresh ideas and voices from the next generation of leaders.”
