Hong Kong’s Ronnie Chan joins board
Ronnie Chan, chairman of China’s Hang Lung Group and Hang Lung Properties since 1991, has joined The Performance Theatre Foundation as an advisory board member.
The Hong Kong-based property development entrepreneur is a prominent member of the Chinese business community. In addition to leading one of China’s largest property development groups, he acts as vice president of the Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong, co-chair of the Asia Society and chairman of its Hong Kong Centre, and an advisor to the China Development Research Foundation of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China. Mr Chan – who also sits on several think-tank and university advisory bodies – becomes a board member at an exciting time for The Performance Theatre.
Osvald Bjelland, founder and vice chairman, said: “I’m delighted to welcome Ronnie Chan to the board. His knowledge and insights on transformative leadership will add much to our developing strategy about the leadership we need to create a new type of growth.”
Mr Chan added: “I truly believe we need new ideas – transformative ideas – for both business and society. The Performance Theatre has the ‘nerve’ to have the politically incorrect conversations necessary to achieving that transformation.”
Hang Lung Properties is the operating arm of Hang Lung Group, a leading Hong Kong company boasting an extensive real estate portfolio in Hong Kong, as well as building, owning and managing world-class commercial complexes in key cities on the mainland since the 1990s. It is a constituent stock of Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index and the Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Indices, and is one of the world’s largest pure real estate listed companies by market value. Its net profit for 2012 was USD 1.1 billion.
