Recognising and supporting emerging leaders who are generating more people- and planet- positive growth is integral to The Performance Theatre’s mission. Over the past five years, the Inspired Leadership Awards have connected 30 truly inspiring leaders to The Performance Theatre community for bi-directional mentorship, collaborations or business partnerships. The Performance Theatre’s inspired leadership work will enter a new chapter in 2022 as the Leaders-in-Residence programme.
The model of a “residency” recognises the impact that immersion in a setting or institution away from one’s day-to-day can have on an artist or group’s work, and provides structured support to extend that work in line with the hosting institution’s mission.
In this spirit, The Performance Theatre’s Leaders-in-Residence programme welcomes nominations for emerging leaders who are inspiring better models for growth beyond their own sector. We will work with the leaders selected to extend their impact, connecting them to mentors and partners from our global community of leaders and collaborating with them to shape our annual leadership agenda.
The Leaders-in-Residence programme will work primarily with the following leaders:
- Impact entrepreneurs: creating social and environmental impact through innovative, brave and disruptive start-up businesses.
- Weathermakers: shaping their large organisations in meaningful ways to empower and grow ways of doing business that are people- and planet- positive.
- Artists and athletes: inspiring others through performance – whether or stage or on the field.

The Leaders-in-Residence programme is a renewed format of the previous Inspired Leadership Awards, which recognised bold, purpose-driven leaders who have developed new entrepreneurial approaches to driving positive change at scale.
