We are thrilled to announce the theme for The Performance Theatre 2019 in Seattle – ‘Higher Resolutions: Leadership for a Changing Social Contract’.
This year’s theme builds on our programmes in Singapore (2017), where we explored how leaders listen to ‘invisible realities’, and Potsdam/Berlin (2018), where we asked how we change, learning from ‘unfinished revolutions’ of all kinds. Reports from across the globe – from Kashmir and Paris to Venezuela and Long Island City – indicate that old mandates are dissolving and there are growing calls for new deals.
With any transition, some degree of dissolution may be inevitable. But can we move from dissolution to resolution – and how? This year, under the theme ‘Higher Resolutions: Leadership for a Changing Social Contract’, we will explore the kinds of leadership that can bring more people together – especially across widening social and economic rifts. The programme will pay special attention to approaches that leverage the unique resources of local communities while being replicable globally.
